Why Grooming is Important

Regular grooming is more than just keeping your dog looking great—it's essential for their health and well-being. It helps prevent infections, reduces shedding, and strengthens the bond between you and your pet.

Brushing Your Dog's Coat

  • Short-haired breeds: Brush once a week.
  • Medium-haired breeds: Brush 2–3 times a week.
  • Long-haired breeds: Daily brushing is recommended.

Brush Types: Bristle brush (all coats), slicker brush (long coats), undercoat rake (shedding breeds).

Bathing Your Dog

  • Most dogs need a bath every 4–6 weeks.
  • Use lukewarm water and a dog-friendly shampoo.
  • Towel dry or use a blow dryer on a low heat setting.

Tip: Hypoallergenic shampoos are best for dogs with sensitive skin.

Ear Cleaning

  • Check your dog's ears weekly.
  • Use a vet-approved ear cleaner (never water or hydrogen peroxide).

Warning Signs: Redness, swelling, bad odor, or excessive head shaking.

Nail Trimming

  • Trim your dog's nails every 3–4 weeks.
  • Use dog-specific nail clippers and trim small amounts at a time.
  • If you cut too far, use styptic powder to stop bleeding.

Dental Care

  • Brush your dog's teeth 2–3 times a week with enzymatic dog toothpaste.
  • Offer dental chews to supplement brushing.

Signs of Dental Issues: Bad breath, red gums, difficulty eating.

"A well-groomed dog is a happy, healthy dog."
