Description: Balu is a deaf 6 year old Blue Heeler mix with a heart of gold. When he was picked up by Smith County Animal Control & Shelter, he was protecting his two baby pups. Both of them deaf, just like him. That’s who Balu is. Loyal. Devoted. Fiercely loving. Balu loves people of all ages and is friendly with other dogs. His favorite things in life are going for walks, snuggling in bed, and happily chewing on his bones. Because Balu can’t hear, he will need an adopter who understands his unique needs. Someone patient and gentle who won’t startle him and who’s ready to embrace his different way of communicating. With the right person, Balu will be the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for.
