Summer Safety Tips

  • Hydration is key: Always provide fresh, cool water - especially on walks or outdoor play.
  • Avoid midday heat: Walk your dog early morning or late evening when pavement is cooler.
  • Never leave dogs in cars: Even a few minutes can be deadly in hot weather.
  • Watch for heatstroke: Signs include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting.
  • Paw protection: Hot pavement can burn paws - test with your hand or use booties.

Winter Wellness

  • Short walks, not frostbite: Limit time outdoors during freezing temperatures.
  • Bundle up: Small dogs and short-haired breeds may need coats or sweaters.
  • Wipe paws: Salt and ice melt can irritate and be toxic if licked.
  • Keep them dry: Wet fur makes dogs cold - dry them off after snow or rain.
  • Warm bedding: Provide cozy, insulated sleeping areas indoors.

Spring & Fall Considerations

  • Allergies: Like us, dogs can react to pollen or mold. Watch for itching or sneezing.
  • Parasite protection: Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes are most active in these seasons - stay up to date on preventatives.
  • Yard hazards: Clean up toxic plants, fertilizers, and mushrooms that pop up in damp areas.

General Year-Round Advice

  • Keep ID tags and microchip info current in case your dog gets lost.
  • Adjust food intake based on seasonal activity levels to avoid weight gain.
  • Keep grooming up - especially brushing to remove loose hair and debris between baths.

"Your dog depends on you to stay safe - no matter the season."
