Rescue Policies

These policies help ensure the safety, well-being, and ethical treatment of animals while supporting the mission and operations of Pawsitive Place Rescue.

Our Mission

Pawsitive Place Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need while promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and community education.

Animal Welfare Standards

  • The health, safety, and well-being of animals remain our highest priority.
  • Animals shall be treated humanely and with respect at all times.
  • Appropriate veterinary care shall be provided whenever necessary.
  • Animals shall never be subjected to abuse, neglect, or unnecessary harm.
  • Placement decisions shall be made in the best interest of the animal.

No-Kill Philosophy

Pawsitive Place Rescue operates as a no-kill rescue organization. Every reasonable effort is made to provide care, treatment, placement, and support for the animals entrusted to our care.

Adoption Policies

  • All prospective adopters may be required to complete an application.
  • References may be verified when appropriate.
  • Landlord approval may be required for rental properties.
  • Adoption decisions are made based on the best interests of the animal.
  • The organization reserves the right to deny any application.

Foster Policies

  • Fosters serve as temporary caregivers and representatives of the organization.
  • Animals remain the property and responsibility of the organization until formally adopted.
  • Medical concerns should be reported promptly.
  • Animals may not be transferred, sold, or surrendered without authorization.

Volunteer Policies

  • Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully.
  • Volunteers must follow organizational policies and safety procedures.
  • Volunteer opportunities may be suspended or terminated at the organization's discretion.
  • Animal welfare must always take precedence over convenience or personal preference.

Confidentiality

Personal information provided by adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, and supporters shall be handled responsibly and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Donor Privacy Policy.

Internal records, applications, and organizational matters should not be disclosed without authorization.

Safety & Conduct

  • Unsafe behavior around animals or people will not be tolerated.
  • Harassment, intimidation, and threatening conduct are prohibited.
  • Individuals must follow reasonable instructions from organizational leadership.
  • Incidents, injuries, and safety concerns should be reported promptly.

Hold Harmless and Release of Liability

You must acknowledge that animals are unpredictable by nature and may exhibit behaviors that could result in injury or property damage. By volunteering, fostering or adopting from Pawsitive Place Rescue, you assume all risks associated with ownership and care of the animal and agree to release, indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Pawsitive Place Rescue, its officers, directors, volunteers, agents, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising out of or related to volunteering, fostering, adopting, and/or ownership, possession, care, or control of the animals.

Fundraising & Donations

  • Donations are used to support the organization's mission and operations.
  • The organization strives to use resources responsibly and transparently.
  • Fundraising activities conducted on behalf of the organization must be authorized.
  • Donor information is protected in accordance with the Donor Privacy Policy.

Social Media & Public Representation

  • Supporters are encouraged to share adoptable animals and rescue success stories.
  • Individuals should not represent themselves as official spokespersons unless authorized.
  • Misleading, harmful, or inaccurate public statements about the organization should be avoided.
  • Confidential information should never be disclosed online.

Policy Updates

Pawsitive Place Rescue reserves the right to update, modify, or revise these policies as operational needs, best practices, legal requirements, and animal welfare standards evolve.
